COME AND SING HANDEL'S MESSIAH
Have you ever wondered if choral singing was for you? Would you like to join a choir but not sure where to give it a go?
On October 29th we are joining forces with Pontypridd Choral Society at a Come and Sing event in St Luke's Church, Rhydyfelin where we'd love to see as many people come and sing Handel's Messiah with us for a wonderful evening of music. Rehearsal is at 1pm and the performance is at 7pm. Audience tickets are £10.
New members are always welcome to join the Choral Society, and experience is not essential. Rehearsals take place in the United Free Church, Westgate St (opposite the Police Station) every Thursday at 7.30 pm.
World Cup Choir
Ladies from Cowbridge Choral Society recently travelled to the Kempton Park racecourse in Middlesex for a massed choirs event. 1000 singers spent the day there to celebrate the Rugby World Cup and raise money for the charity Voices for Hospices. The programme featured songs representing all four home nations as well as a rehearsal and performance of "The Armed Man" by Karl Jenkins, who was present at the event. The concert was supported by a full orchestra as well as the band of the Honourable Artillery Company. Carole Lloyd, the Society's Musical Director, said "the whole day was a wonderful experience, particularly singing with so many others".
